Sterilization wraps ensure the medical device is protected from being contaminated and seen as the solution for sterilizing applications. In the medical set up, there exist a lot of bacteria and chemicals, these medical devices need to stay sterilized up to the point they are required.
The wraps are made by using designed layers that are made of SMS - spunbond/meltblown/spunbond layers of fabric. The three layers are bonded together thermally, with the “meltblown” providing the barrier and the strength of the wrap by the “spunbond.” The triple layer gives very great microbial contamination protection.
During manufacturing of the wraps, there are two processes that can be done. The sequential wrap process where two sheets of the wrap are bonded together one after the other. The other is non-sequential the two sheets are wrapped together at the same time. This process is preferred as the wraps offer multilayer protection for surgical items.
The indicators are non-toxic and water based ink that exceed and meet the requirements of ISO standards. They also change color accurately after the sterilization process.
There is an extensive selection of different size that give adequate choice for finding the right sized pack for any item. They also can allow double packing and process validation has been done as required of EN ISO 11607.
The sterilization wraps are packed, once manufactured, in cartons that meet internal standards. The carton labels include details about size, type and color.
The wraps have three major types; regular wraps, heavy duty and super heavy duty wrap.
Regular wraps are mainly used gowns, light lined packs, single basins.
Heavy duty wraps have more strength and can be used for surgical trays and packs. They can also be used for instrument sets, basin sets, large linen packs and procedure trays.
Super heavy duty wraps are ideal for reactors, drills and other very heavy surgical trays and packs.[...]
